Well, they dropped the price $3000. So...
Pictured: the car of a liar

That’s a nice price cut. What’s the verdict?
Oops, I misinterpreted. You didn’t just look!

Awesome deal!
Holy shit a brand new car for 10k!

(hoping I remember your cars right...) Is this in addition to the pickup or a replacement?
![]() 10/31/2020 at 12:00 |

Congrats! That gives you some unicorn bragging rights.

$13,999 wa s hard to pass up. It’s zippy through the first four gears, and nimble. The interior reminds me of my old Fiat 500 in that it’s small, but doesn’t feel cramped. Plus it’s cute!

Replacing. It was a good truck and I would have been content keeping it, but I have always had a soft spot for 5-door hatchbacks. I refuse to call this a crossover, it’s just a slightly taller hatchback.

It seems like it might be the only one in the city. I don’t remember seeing another one for sale over the last year.

Hell yeah! Great car! Good choice.
![]() 10/31/2020 at 12:21 |

Thanks! I really like it. I think the reason I like it so much is that it looks a lot like the Skoda Fabia from the side, and when that car came out I thought it looked great.

TALL hatchback
![]() 10/31/2020 at 12:27 |

I looked at a manual venue myself. It is such a great car for money.
Any budget for new rims?

Awesome choice, there were actually like ten near me when I was looking, I never looked at one but it was at the top of my list for a brand new car, just still too much cash for me so I went for a 8yo mazda2 instead.
![]() 10/31/2020 at 12:30 |

Except it’s not even all that tall. It’s just a hatchback, no matter how much they want to call it a crossover.

“ I refuse to call this a crossover, it’s just a slightly taller hatchback.”
That’s what crossovers are ... I own one ... I know what I have, and it’s lovely.

$14k for a brand new vehicle is pretty astounding!
![]() 10/31/2020 at 12:41 |
|
$4.5k off of the list price was too good of a deal for me to pass up. Plus I was starting to get a bit annoyed in the lack of creature comforts in the truck.
As little as I drive my personal vehicles anymore, it might actually retain some value. I intend to baby it. I’m going to put some seat covers on it ASAP.

I totally would have gone that route if I could afford it, that’s still more than double what I ended up spending. I was actually between the venue and the base forte, but what I really wanted was a veloster and then I was worried I’d always regret it if I didn’t get the turbo and just like that my 12k budget is now over 20k, so I went the opposite direction and got something cheap that I know I like and will be reliable and be able to mod a little down the line.

I really like the look of these. We found a really pretty blue one when we were looking at cars for my wife, but it just wasn’t big enough.
They really seem like great cars though; I hope it serves you well.

Nice find! Manual lies are good lies.

Me too, thanks! It is definitely cozy inside, but at least the bit of extra height gives it more headroom. I have to say, I really like the seat. It’s really firm but comfortable and I like the bolsters.

Nice. Is it fun to drive?
![]() 10/31/2020 at 14:06 |

My initial impression is yes. It feels zippy and flingable in the lower gears. I was worried it would be boring like my manual Cube, but it doesn’t feel top heavy, or soulless like the Cube did. It also feels a lot more solid. The Cube felt like it could be dented by the wind.
I really like the feel of this 6-speed. Korean brands’ manuals haven’t necessarily been my cup of tea but this one is smooth and the clutch feels just right.

Nice, these have grown on me! Sad they replaced the Accent with these as I liked the Accent more...but considering the Venue is Accent-based.....I guess it
’s
like having an Accent anyway?
Gl
ad the driving experience is quite nice! I would only want one in a manual if I could get it!
![]() 10/31/2020 at 15:08 |

I don’t know, the only thing I really didn’t like about the Accent hatch in recent years is that it was just kind of bland and quiet. At least this has interesting styling, if a bit less utility. I would prefer if this didn’t have the little insets of gray plastic on the doors, but it’s understated enough that I can allow it.
The interior is way nicer than you’d think, for an entry level car. It’s still hard plastics, but they don’t feel near as cheap as Hyundai interiors in the past. I can still remember the gray plastic in my ‘01 Accent that turned to a hideous green over time.

Damn you got a good deal. You’ d have to be crazy to have passed that up.
![]() 10/31/2020 at 16:03 |

Our issue was we were looking for a way to transport the two dogs. There was no way either was fitting behind the back seat.
![]() 10/31/2020 at 16:39 |

I actually thought it was a Skoda Fabia from the thumbnail until I clicked on it. You’re not wrong.
![]() 10/31/2020 at 16:42 |

Woah, you even got it in a fun red color! That is a seriously good car for the money. Fun and funky manual hatchback with more character than the recent Accent hatches have had. I really like this a lot. And with the 6 speed it is really a unicorn.
What interior color does it have? I can’t find a good photo of the interior with a manual anywhere.

I had been watching the price fall on it over the last month, and when I saw what they cut it to on Friday I couldn’t say no.
![]() 10/31/2020 at 17:01 |
|
Yeah, that’s definitely understandable. I doubt my little chonker would like being back there either.
![]() 10/31/2020 at 17:02 |

I might have to consider that. Those wheel covers are just awful. I wish the steelies underneath were silver.
![]() 10/31/2020 at 17:03 |

I’m glad a company that sells cars here ripped it off so we can have it!
![]() 10/31/2020 at 17:05 |

It’s black, which is my preferred color for car interiors.
I do wish there had been a blue one for sale with the manual. I like this red a lot but the blue they have for the Venue is absolutely gorgeous.

Very cool! Sounds like a hell of a deal too, so props to you for jumping onto it. I’m sure it’ll serve you well both in the practicality and fun factors (especially since it’s a stick).
My only concern is it looks a bit tall. taking it around corners looks like it would feel iffy. Is that the case, or is the thing pretty planted?
![]() 10/31/2020 at 18:04 |
|
Though if anything the Venue is a bit more interesting looking. Especially from the front.
![]() 10/31/2020 at 18:05 |

I'm not a huge fan of all black interiors.
Oh I agree. It’s great that you got a color but that is a very nice blue.
![]() 10/31/2020 at 18:40 |

That’s like mine...I have an ‘09 Accent. The plastics wouldn’t be as nice as the Venue, but they are sortof in between, so more the ‘quality but hard’ thing.
Glad it seems like a decent ride! :)

I remember test driving one of those in ‘08 and I thought the plastics were a big leap forward from the one I had, even back then. The 3rd generation Accent is underrated.

Agreed! :)
